Mergefall

Slide every tile at once, merge the matching pairs, and climb to the goal tile before the board fills up. Everyone gets the same tiles each day, so the fewest moves wins.

Daily puzzle New puzzle at midnight.

One shared board a day. Build a streak.

Everyone gets the same tiles in the same order, so the fewest moves is a fair race.

Rules in ten seconds

  • Swipe to slide every tile; equal tiles that meet merge.
  • Each move drops in a new 2 (sometimes a 4).
  • Reach the goal tile before the board fills up.
  • Fewest moves wins the day. There’s no undo.

How to play

  1. Swipe to slide. Every tile on the board slides as far as it can in that direction.
  2. Equal tiles merge. Two tiles with the same number that bump together become one: 2 and 2 make 4, 4 and 4 make 8. Each merge adds the new tile to your score.
  3. A new tile drops in. After every move that changes the board, a 2 (or now and then a 4) appears in an empty cell.
  4. Reach the goal. The daily’s goal is 512 or 1,024. Run out of moves first and you can try again with the same tiles.

One swipe left: two merges, and a new tile.

There’s no undo, and that’s on purpose: the daily is a race on moves, and every swipe is a commitment. A swipe that doesn’t move anything isn’t counted.

The daily race

The daily board is seeded by the date, so everyone gets the very same tiles in the very same order. Reach the goal tile (512 on Easy days, 1,024 on Medium) in as few moves as you can; the time only breaks ties. Only your first attempt goes on today’s leaderboard, but a later win still keeps your streak going.

Tips

  • Pick a corner. Keep your biggest tile there and push toward it with two directions.
  • Line them up. Tiles in falling order along the edge merge in a cascade.
  • Keep the edge row full. Then the odd move away from the corner can’t shake it loose.
  • Don’t clutter. On the daily, the fewest moves come from leaving the fewest stray tiles behind.

Streaks are per game · what’s a ❄ freeze?

Each game banks one streak freeze. Miss a single day and it covers that day automatically, so your streak lives on. A used freeze comes back 7 days after the day it covered. Two missed days in a row still end the streak.
