Five techniques, one at a time, easiest first. Each step is a short lesson, a worked example on a real board, then three puzzles that can’t be finished without that technique. Finish a step’s three puzzles to unlock the next one.

1. 1PairsTwo of a kind side by side, and both ends are spoken for.Two matching symbols side by side: the cells on either side of them take the other symbol.
2. 2SandwichSun, gap, sun: the gap can only be a moon.Two matching symbols with one gap between them: the gap takes the other symbol.
3. 3BalanceThree of one symbol in a line, and the rest of the line is decided.A row or column already has its three of one symbol: every other cell takes the other symbol.
4. 4LinkThe signs between cells: = means same, × means opposite.An = or × sign with one side filled tells you the other side.
5. 5LookaheadWhen nothing is forced, try a symbol in your head and see what breaks.Try a symbol in your head: if one more forced move would break a rule, the cell must be the other symbol.
