Queens Hints for TodaySat, Oct 3, 2026
Stuck on today’s Queens? Three nudges, smallest first. No spoilers here: open one, try the board again, and only open the next if you need it.
Queens #33 · 9×9, Medium
Hint 1 The smallest nudge
Technique: Pair Squeeze. Two regions fit inside two rows or columns (or the reverse), so the rest of those lines is out.
Rows 7 and 8 only have open cells in the red and pink regions, so those two regions’ queens must be in rows 7 and 8, and their other cells can’t hold a queen. Showing 8 of 23 ✕s.

Hint 2 A bit more
Technique: Triple Squeeze. Three regions fit inside three rows or columns (or the reverse), so the rest of those lines is out.
The purple, yellow and teal regions only have open cells in rows 1, 5 and 9, so those three regions use up all three of those queens, and no other cell in rows 1, 5 and 9 can hold a queen. Showing 8 of 19 ✕s.

Hint 3 The biggest nudge
Technique: No Room. A queen on a cell would wipe out every open cell of some area, so that cell is out.
A queen on any of the marked cells would rule out every open cell of the yellow region, leaving it no place for its queen. Showing 8 of 15 ✕s.

How these hints work
These are the same three hints the Hint button gives on today’s board, in the same order, starting from a fresh board. Each one proves some ✕s, or a queen once no ✕ can be proved, and names the technique behind it. Region colors are the default palette. Already partway through? Skip to the first hint you haven’t found yourself.
The hints stop at three on purpose. Past that, the techniques do the work, and you’ll get more out of finishing it yourself. There’s no full solution on this page.
The techniques, in a line each
- Last Cell: A row, column or region has only one open cell left, so the queen goes there.
- Region Squeeze: A region fits inside one row or column (or a line inside one region), so the rest of it is out.
- No Room: A queen on a cell would wipe out every open cell of some area, so that cell is out.
- Pair Squeeze: Two regions fit inside two rows or columns (or the reverse), so the rest of those lines is out.
- Triple Squeeze: Three regions fit inside three rows or columns (or the reverse), so the rest of those lines is out.
Each one has a short lesson and a few practice boards in the Queens Learn track.
Stuck on LinkedIn’s Queens too?
The hints above are for our daily board, not theirs. But the techniques work on any Queens board, including LinkedIn’s, because the rules are the same. Practice them on our free daily and the next tricky board goes quicker.
